BOOKMARKS 2010 - A Success!

At BOOKMARKS 2010, we had book lovers, writers, and soon to be readers come out to support the festival. We had our first standing ovation at a festival (for poet Billy Collins!). We tripled the visitors to Young Readers Central Area and gave away hundreds of free books, and we saw increased attendance in all of the venues. Saturday was a great deal of fun as our authors met many more of their fans. We had long book signing lines and large crowds gather. We have included a few pictures from the day.

Outreach included festival authors visiting schools during the week prior to the festival. School participation doubled from 2009 to 2010, with authors reaching over 2000 school children in Forsyth and Guilford counties. Ages ranged from four year olds at Family Services, Inc., Head Start to elementary school students at Union Cross Traditional Academy to high school art students at Reynolds to college age students at Winston-Salem State University.

Thanks to ALL of our authors, volunteers, sponsors and attendees!
