Humanitarian, activist and New York Times best-selling author Greg Mortenson spoke at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem on November 12 as part of BOOKMARKS’ “Conversations with” series. After his talk, Mortenson and his organization the Central Asia Institute (CAI), decided to donate copies of his books to the Winston-Salem community through BOOKMARKS. With this donation, Mortenson hopes to help educate the community about his educational efforts and to further his philosophy that generosity and education are the best methods of promoting peace and understanding.

“Greg Mortenson’s generosity in donating these books to our community speaks volumes about his dedication to furthering education,” said Ginger Hendricks, executive director of BOOKMARKS. “His talk in November and his gift of 500 books are inspirational to us all. The curriculum at Philo includes Mandarin Chinese (full or partial immersion), International Business and World Culture, and Global Technology, all of which are designed to develop the foundations for bright futures in the era of globalization.”
