CHILDREN’S AREA PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEE
(YOUNG READERS CORRAL)
Goal: Plan for children’s authors, related workshops, exhibitors and activities to
provide a quality experience for families and young adult readers.
Description: Each member will work as a liaison to the larger subcommittees,
representing the interests of this unique area.
- Logistics Member- Do we have WHAT we need? This includes contracts and other paperwork, supplies for all activities and site planning/equipment closer to September. (Busiest May- Sept)
- Programming Member- Do we have WHO we need? Responsible for planning and contacting potential authors and exhibitors. Seeks balance and diversity in all areas of the YRC, as in the larger festival.
- Marketing Member - Compiles all authors’ media materials and helps the larger committee to market to families. May represent the committee in print, radio and television media. (Busiest May-Sept)
- Volunteers Member- Do we have the PEOPLE we need to run a successful festival? This role is crucial in July, August and September. Volunteers for both the promotion, set-up and the festival day are invaluable. This member makes sure we are staffed and that all volunteers are informed and comfortable. ( Busiest May- Sept)
- Finance/Sponsorship Member- Do we have the FUNDS and community SUPPORT to meet the needs of the YRC? This person will help with grant writing and compiling of data to obtain sponsorship.
