PROGRAMMING PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEE
Goal: Develop festival program that is literary and entertaining for a wide audience.
Maintain balanced mix of local/regional/national talent; literary genre; and
author name recognition.
Description (planning):
- Develop overall program and stage schedule for BOOKMARKS festival.
- Contact publishers, agents, and/or authors (except for Children’s authors)
for the event.
- Send contracts and information packets to authors; monitor return receipt of
these items.
- Obtain photo and bio of each author booked.
- Book and coordinate transportation and hotel for authors requiring such.
Description (during Festival):
- Make sure all authors arrive in Winston-Salem and are comfortable
- Ensure that each author arrives and presents his/her program on schedule.
- Maintain car service / transportation for authors during their stay
Busiest During: February – August

- You decide who comes to BOOKMARKS!
- Primary ‘production’ role in the festival – securing talent, casting, producing the day. Direct contact with authors, publishers.
- Insight into the writing / publishing industry generally.
