SPONSORSHIP & FUNDRAISING PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEE
Goal: Meet financial requirements for presenting book festival at no admission charge.
Description: Committee members secure monetary contributions and in-kind goods & services from sponsors, donors, and grantors for festival and author-based fundraisers.
- Solicit Sponsors and Donors of money and in-kind goods & services
- Identify potential sponsors and maintain existing sponsor lists; and nurture relationships
- Develops levels, giving opportunities
- Prepares custom “ask” letters to sponsors, providing the Sponsorship Kit
- Secure Grants
- Identify potential grantors, maintain Grants List; and nurture relationships
- Complete and submit grants
- Submit required reports
- Standalone author–based fundraisers
- Interacts with other Committees
To identify festival specifics that could be underwritten and/or share potential general sponsors (and grantors) of cash or in-kind, such as:
- Programming: Authors & programming sponsor/underwriter/grantor possibilities
- Volunteers: Sponsors/grantors to open up volunteering to employees, etc.
- Logistics: Vendors for goods — food, walkie-talkies, kitchen setup, etc.
- Marketing/PR:
- Marketing sponsor/ sponsor/underwriter opportunities — Printer for festival brochure & materials, media sponsors:
- Provide info for the creation/preparation of sponsorship materials; providing sponsorship information for inclusion in brochure, ads and signage at the festival
- Maximize sponsor visibility
- Treasurer: On submitting required grant reports, work with Programming &
- One member works on stand-alone author-based fundraisers w/other committees’ reps
Busiest During: January – June; October followup
